Invisible orthodontics Barcelona — clear aligners Sergi Arranz

The treatment

What is
invisible orthodontics?

Invisible orthodontics is a system of removable clear aligners that move the teeth gradually and precisely. Made from a custom thermoformed plastic sheet, they are virtually imperceptible and can be removed for eating or brushing.

At the Smile Studio we digitally plan the tooth movement before we start. That way you know exactly how your smile will look at the end of the treatment — and how long it will take.

Why choose them

The advantages of clear aligners

Virtually invisible

The aligners are transparent and fit perfectly to your teeth. Most people around you will not know you are wearing orthodontics.

Removable at any time

Taken out for eating, drinking, brushing and on special occasions. No dietary restrictions or hygiene difficulties.

More comfortable than brackets

No edges or wires to irritate the inside of the mouth. Aligners are smooth and fit your teeth with precision.

Predictable result

With the prior 3D design you see your final smile before you start. You know exactly the result and the treatment duration from day one.

Perfect dental hygiene

Without brackets and wires it is much easier to maintain optimal oral hygiene during treatment, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease.

Transparent pricing

The price of the full treatment is fixed from the start, with no additional costs for check-ups or aligner changes within the plan.

Indications

Who is
invisible orthodontics for?

Crowded teeth

Teeth that overlap due to lack of space. This is the most common case and the one that achieves the best results with aligners.

Gaps between teeth

Spaces between teeth (diastemas) that affect the aesthetics of the smile and chewing function.

Incorrect bite

Crossbite, open bite, deep bite or deviation. Many cases can be resolved with aligners without the need for surgery.

Relapse after previous orthodontics

If you had braces in the past and your teeth have moved again, aligners are the perfect option to correct this discreetly.

Adults with an active professional life

For those who care about their professional image and cannot afford to wear visible metal braces for months or years.

Preparation for veneers

In many smile design cases, invisible orthodontics is the first step before veneers to achieve the optimal position of the teeth.

How it works

The process of
invisible orthodontics

1

Full digital diagnosis

We carry out an intraoral 3D scan and clinical photographs. The scanner avoids uncomfortable alginate impressions and allows greater precision in the fabrication of the aligners.

2

Tooth movement design

With ClinCheck software we plan every movement of every tooth. You will see in 3D how your smile will evolve week by week until the final result. You approve the plan before any aligner is manufactured.

3

Aligner fabrication

All the aligners for the complete treatment are manufactured using SmartTrack, Invisalign's material with the greatest retention force and fit. Each aligner is changed every 7–10 days.

4

Active treatment

You wear the aligners between 20 and 22 hours a day, removing them only for eating and brushing. Check-ups with Dr. Sergi take place every 6–8 weeks to monitor progress.

5

Retention of the result

At the end of the active treatment a retainer (fixed or removable) is fitted to keep the teeth in their new position permanently.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the complexity of each case. Mild cases can be resolved in 4–6 months. Moderate cases require between 12 and 18 months, and the most complex can take up to 24 months. The exact duration for your treatment will be indicated at the diagnosis.

Aligners must be worn between 20 and 22 hours a day to be effective. They are only removed for eating, drinking liquids other than water, and for tooth brushing. Consistency is key to meeting the planned timescales.

During the first few days there may be a slight adjustment in pronunciation, but most patients adapt completely within less than a week. Clear aligners are virtually imperceptible in normal conversation.

When switching to a new aligner it is normal to feel slight pressure for 24–48 hours, a sign that the teeth are moving. It is not intense pain and does not require medication. It is significantly more comfortable than metal brackets.

Aligners resolve the vast majority of orthodontic cases, including moderate and severe crowding, diastemas, crossbites and relapse cases. Very complex cases with skeletal issues may require a combined approach. The free diagnosis will determine whether you are a candidate.

If you lose an aligner you can wear the previous one while we arrange a replacement, or move on to the next one if you are close to a change. At the Smile Studio we quickly manage the replacement of lost aligners at no additional cost within the plan.
